Sak ap fek fanmi’m!!

don’t google translate that by the way.. it’ll say something about bags.. haha it just means what’s up family! But This week has been epic and so awesome! We concluded the week with 3 baptisms and we are so blessed and grateful for the opportunity we had to bless these peoples lives!

Monday- We had a good p-day, we went on exchanges with this Elder named Elder Langi, he is a boss! He plays football for Utah. Cool Kid. We had dinner with a Spanish member and then picked up this dope couch from another member, he just gave it to us! haha We had fun on our exchange, good memories!

Tuesday- 1 Year in Florida! We sat in Zone Conference all day and it was good, that was are last one with President. We taught Bernadette a little more and figured out the program. We helped the Desire’s with their baptism as well and we were just pumped for the week!

Wednesday- We just made programs all day and then went knocking, we went to activities and and gave Elder Brower (the senior couple) a blessing because he is getting surgery on his eye. It was really spiritual and he appreciated it.

Thursday- We made brownies for the baptism and set up everything and some other Elder gave Bernadette her baptismal interview and she passed with flying colors! We got some BK ice cream before the baptism and found this way awesome Haitian lady we need to follow-up with this week. The baptism was so beautiful. It was Myrlande and Gerard Desire! They were so happy to be re-baptized into the church and we confirmed there too. I gave sister Desire the Holy Ghost in Creole and it was so awesome, best thing ever! The man that baptized them is from Immokalee and his daughter came too and told me how everyone in Mokee misses me and wants me to come back! So funny!

Friday- We did service in the morning and painted this porch fence. It was fun and we talked with some Haitian workers and they loved that we spoke Creole! We printed some pictures off, so i’ll send some to ya’ll soon 🙂

Saturday- best day ever!! First off it was “Haitian Flag Day” which is basically 4th of July for Haitians:)  Bernadette’s baptism was off the chain! I gave the talk on baptism in Creole and then Wilson baptized her. When she got done changing and back in the room she waved her hands in the air was all, “I’m soooo happy!!” it was hilarious! Everyone loved it! She bore her testimony and I translated it but I just started to cry.. She said she split from her husband in Feb. and that she had been praying for someone to be placed in her path for more faith and guidance. Two weeks later we showed up on her door step and then a month in half later she was baptized! Best story of my mission so far! Ah, I love Bernadette!! We then went to a Haitian Flag party in Ft. Myers with all the Haitian-aries and it was lots of fun with tons of good food. We then went to a graduation for an investigator in Ft. Myers and that was fun as well, crazy I’ve been graduated for 2 years.. what the junk?? Time Flies!

Sunday- Church was a little stressful because I had to translate all 3 hours. I was able to give Bernadette the Holy Ghost in Sacrament in Creole again. Such a great experience, I loved it! And so did she!! she started to walk on the stand to give another testimony.. haha! Then while I was translating in Priesthood, the Haitian man just knocked out, snoring and I was just laughing! We had dinner with an English member family who all their little girls remind me of Hayden 😦 we got fed steaks and they were delicious. We drove home in the pouring rain and it was scary but we made it safe:) had a good rest of the night with all the Elders and that concludes the week!

I love my Savior! I am grateful for the chance to serve Him and brings souls unto Him. We have been blessed for our efforts! It is now grind time, to go out and find more people to come unto Him! Wish us luck and pray for our success! Love you all so much 🙂

Talked to my MOM!! May 13, 2013

I love Mothers day! And I had the best time talking to my family!! I love you all so much and thank you for your support. The mission is so great and it helps when people back at home are praying for you! I miss my baby sisters so much and my dear parents. So glad I was able to see all of you 🙂 Hopefully on X-mas I can see the whole family. Chris and Elise included!

Monday- Just like today, last Monday we went to the Pier and played beach volleyball, so much fun and the sand is so soft! We made sand mermaids and buff dudes haha. I was the little Mermaid 🙂 You can call me Ariel 🙂 We played basketball and it was legit, I love playing with Elder Schenk. We own the court! Then the junkin’ sisters wrote on our car windows with paint.. what are we in high school? goodness! Took so long to scratch off. They are shortening our time out here again.. this time by 2 weeks. So I come home now on March 5th! Crazy!

Tuesday- We did service in the morning and painted some walls and put this sticky stuff on the floors for carpet. It was fun! We had a good lesson with Bernadette and she is solid, then we asked Cemy Desire, the son of the 2 parents if he wants to be baptized with them and he said no 😦 We’ll get him soon enough! We through a surprise Birthday Party for Elder Chamberlain and it was way sweet, he turned 19! Young Gun. Then the bishop came with me and Wilson to a way less-active family and it was really spiritual and they committed to come back to church! So stoked!

Wednesday- We had ZDM for like 5 hours it was ridiculous and our ZL’s looooove to talk :/ Kinda just put everyone in a downer mood for the day. We helped the Naples Elders move into their new house and we taught this recent convert. We got pizza at activities and the sister missionaries gave us these pictures of our favorite temple and scripture, way cool!

Thursday- Wilson’s mom sent him a package of “gator” stuff and she bought me a Florida Gator shirt, so nice!! We got things figured out for Bernadette’s Baptism, we are so happy for her! We drove around and tried to find the hospital and found it after an hour. We gave this lady a blessing for the sister missionaries, it was a good experience. She was grateful we came. Then we went to the garden “of hope and courage” haha the hospital has a garden for people to forget their misery and try to gain some hope. Goodness, only in Florida. We knocked for a little and found some good areas to go back as well as some sweet Haitian stores.

Friday- We did service again for that lady and we painted doors and door frames. We helped the sisters out again with another blessing for one of their investigators mom, it was really great as they were both crying and grateful we came. Glad the sisters can really upon us as worthy Priesthood holders to help out their gators! We went to Olive Garden for Elder Chamberlain’s real Birthday and ate so much food. Best place yum!

Saturday- Happy Birthday June Bug 🙂 We did follow-ups all day and talked to some crazy Haitian guy who believes in this false prophet.. and then I owned him with my testimony and we bounced. We just gotta start relying upon the Lord to put people in our path and start focusing on the people who are ready to hear the Gospel! We were placed that night in front of our house to help some Haitian’s move in across the street and they were amazed we spoke Creole. We helped them a ton and there were 2 families and they want to fed us! So legit!

Sunday- Best Mothers day ever!! I was so happy to talk to my family and see their beautiful faces. I was basically bawling and it felt good:) haha I miss them so much. Made my night to see them and talk to them. Happy Mothers Day Mom!! I love you so much, you mean the world to me:)

I love you all and I am grateful to be out here preaching the Gospel, helping all those I can come unto the fold of the Lamb. Keep praying and growing your testimony in Christ. I love you and miss you all. Have a blessed week!

March 5, 2013..haircut, basketball, investigators, baptism, gift of tongues, Red Sox,……SUNBURN!

Hello! Sorry for not emailing yesterday, we had a crazy p-day that i’ll talk about a little later..

Tuesday- We had some old gross Spanish soup still all over our back seat and it smelt sooo bad! So all morning we tried getting it out… failed. The cars still kinda smells even today. We finally had a b-day party for me and ate some cake. It was fun! I went on exchanges with Elder Jones the Zone Leader and his area is on campus of a college down here. Oh my goodness I was freaking out, we had to talk to all these kids our age and people that AREN’T HAITIAN!! I was tripping out but it was a lot of fun. We then taught this girl named Stephanie at the church and it was good but she is a Biology major and she didn’t believe anything we were saying! Goodness! We then had Institute class and ate some pizza. The other Elders who share the same area with the Zone Leaders came over and baked another cake for me and we had a little party. It was sweet, the Elders in our Zone are so sick!
Wednesday- We woke up and made some pancakes and I found a Harry Potter wand/writing pen 🙂 so legit! haha We all went to Subway after District meeting and I got Buffalo Chicken… eww bad choice! We taught this less-active lady and she is so nice but she works on Sunday’s so she can’t come to church. We went to dinner with the Spanish Elders at their members house and then we had activities at the church. No one even recognized me with my hair cut! We changed into different clothes and played b-ball with the youth.
Thursday- We had a lot of referrals to contact, so we got some Watermelon sour patch candies and some Mt Dew and drove around visiting all of our potential investigators. It was a lot of fun and way productive! We taught another less-active lady and she is moving and won’t tell us her new address.. Haitians. haha we then had a lesson at this investigators families house where we watched the Restoration and answered their questions. it was really spiritual and we hope to set a date with them tonight!
Friday- We went to Mckyd’s for breakfast, so good! Then we went to help this lady with a grant… I didn’t even know what a grant was haha but we helped her and she is this nice Haitian lady who helps out all these poor people in Haiti. She showed us a video of these people in Haiti and it was so sad! That place is awful and it breaks my heart people have to live like that. We taught Chantania and filled out her baptism papers and she was excited for her baptism! We had dinner at another Spanish members house where they fed us pizza and we watched another church movie. It was awesome! I said the prayer twice in Spanish! haha gift of tongues baby! We found out the two Spanish Elders living with us won’t be moving out soon and we are a little ticked off. They are so messy! Our house looks like a bomb went off and I can’t stand living like that (thanks mom) 🙂
Saturday- we woke up and helped clean the church and played some basketball. It was transfer call Sat. so we were all excited to see what would happen. Me and Elder Wilson are staying another transfer which is good. And one of the Elders we live with is training so we will have a newb in the house! haha We all went to Olive Garden to celebrate and it was so bomb! I love that place! We then set everything up for the baptism and not a lot of people showed up, it was sad. But Chantania is not the smallest 11 year old and I was kinda stressing out I wouldn’t perform the baptism well. So I had a small prayer that everything would be fine and the Lord in His mercy helped me baptize Chantania and the whole baptism was so beautiful! She loved it and was so happy! Ah it was so perfect! I am thankful for a loving Father in Heaven who answers prayers! We then went home and cleaned/ dis-infected our house and change the whole layout to our house. Our house looks so legit now! We set up surround sound and have this whole “sanctuary” to ourselves 🙂
Sunday- Wilson gave Chantania the Holy Ghost and we had a great fast and testimony meeting. The other meetings aren’t as good because we seriously have to translate everything and Haitians are crazy! They LOVE the bible, so you say one thing about it and they flip and go off about non-sense. its ridiculous! Our solid investigators keep bailing on us and on church, it stinks!! Pray for them! We watched the CES devotional that Elder Bednar gave. Oh my, it was so awesome. So spiritual and great! I hope you all had a chance to see it, if not, you can watch it online! We are pulling the sickest prank on Elder Rod’s new trainee hahaha I’m pretending to be from France and I can’t speak a lick of English and we are going to go split knocking and he’ll have to do everything. It’ll be epic. He comes down tonight!
Monday- Probably the sickest P-day ever turned into the most painful p-day ever (except when i broke my foot) We went to the Red Sox vs Rays spring training game and it was legit!! We got in for free but we had to do some service first. So for 4 1/2 hours we helped park cars. It was a lot of fun and not that hard. Plus we parked some really nice cars!! Ok we couldn’t actually park them, but we directed them into a parking spot haha still it was a blast. It was freezing in the morning and then it got so hot! We got a hot dog and drink and found a sweet spot to sit and watched the game! We left after the 7th inning but the Red Sox were winning 5-1. Elder Hogge came with us and it was a lot of fun! I love that kid. We went to the mall to look for a new belt for Wilson and i looked in the mirror and i was done…. complete 100% tomato. Oh my goodness, my face got so sun burned it is ridiculous! It hurts so bad. I had to hurry and buy Aloe Vera and drench my face with it. My face is seriously swollen and I can’t even smile because my lips are burned too. I have zero expression and it just stinks. I had the worst nights sleep last night! Please pray for me, I need all the support I can get 😦
I love you all so much!! You all are in my prayers each night. Stay strong and keep pressing forward!

February 25, 2013…I love being a missionary..

Hello family and friends!! This week has been great and I love being a missionary! I am truly embarked in the service of my God!! And you all contribute to that each and every day through the power of prayer! So thank you!!
Monday- after P-day we taught this member named Fritz-mide about missionary work and it was really powerful, we hope it encouraged her to serve a mission one day!
Tuesday- We woke up super early and cleaned our car in preparation for Zone Conference and then got Mckyd’s breakfast and went to Zone Con. I loved seeing all my old buddies from the other Zone, especially Elder Hogge! I miss that kid, but it was good to see him. We had a great meeting and it was really spiritual and I applied a lot to my work! We found out the new Haitian Missionary is coming out in June and he is actaully Haitian!! So maybe i’ll train him!! We had a great lesson when we came back home and commited three of our investigators to baptism! We are so excited for the future here and we are doing great!
Wednesday- emailing was good and heard some great news from my parents! Love them 🙂 except they do all the cool, fun things while i’m gone… lame! haha just playing I love them! We continue to keep Chantania strong with her baptism this saturday. And some members picked us up for Dairy Queen and it was so good! haha
Thursday- We live with the two Spanish Elders for right now and one of them, Elder McDougal made us some bomb Mexican food! I need to learn how to cook! This less-active lady had us come over and she started giving us all this advice on how to save money and gave us these coupons, she is awesome! We went knocking and the last door we knocked was this Black lady and her two sons, we left the Savior’s peace and blessing in their home and it was powerful! We had a lesson with the Dezire family on repentance and it went really well!
Friday- Biking this week has been the death of me.. it is so blasted hot and we bike so far. not to mention all of our plans fell through! Elder Wilson got really sick and I am starting to recover but that hurt the work this week. We went knocking and didn’t find anyone but we talked to this Athiest guy, oh m. Funniest thing! He was all like, you guys aren’t going to get anywhere with me, i’ll just be (blank blank blank) to you guys.. haha he did comment on how beautiful the archititure of the temples were. hahaha crazy guy! Chantania chose me to baptize her which will be really awesome! We are so excited for her!!
Saturday- Weplayed b-ball in the morning and it went well! We biked all day and we have to bike some scary roads, there is tons of contruction and sometimes i feel like we are going to get hit! haha we are careful though! We taught this girl named Sophie and she is positive and awesome! Then we went to aduly session of Stake Conference where we heard from an Area 70 named Fred A. Parker. He is this huge black guy who teaches like a baptist preacher! He is hilarious and a great teacher. He talked a lot about families and family prayer and how important that is! So have family prayer together as often as possible!!
Sunday- Great Sabbath Day and Stake Conference was bomb, but translating was hard! haha We had dinner with the senior couple, the Browers. I miss american food! It was good and we talked a lot about the work. Sister Brower is like our mom, she is so awesome! Then we went to another members house for a second dinner. I was so stuffed!! We watched this little Q’s and A’s with Elder Holland and he talked a lot about missionary work and it hit hard! I love being a missionary, nothing better then this!! We rode in the members car home, a red convetable mustang! so sick!! haha we attended a baptism for this 8 year old boy in the Naples ward and I just thought of little Hayden getting baptized soon! Agh! I miss her so much!! We gave a sister missionary a blessing and it was spiritual and powerful! Love the Priesthood! Welp, I did it again… buzz cut! haha I am doing it ever 6 months of my mission, just to change things up!! Haha I love it 🙂 sorry if ya’ll don’t 🙂 haha And I found out that our new mission president coming in July is Mark Cusick… Kalvin’s uncle! I went to school with all his kids, so I am so excited!! I hope he remembers me, when we lived in the little orange house on the hill, he was our Stake President! It’ll be great!!
Have a wonderful week and I love you all. Pray for you all daily and I appreciate all of your prayers. Things are beautiful down here in Florida because The Lord loves this work! Let us serve our God and feel the love of our Savior!!

February 20, 2013…I think I’ll just stick to sports..

Sorry for not emailing on Monday, it was Presidents day and then we had a Zone Conference all day yesterday. It went really good and it was very spiritual and we didn’t get ripped a new one! haha Thankfully all the disobedient missionaries have gone home and left the south! We found out yesterday the new Haitian missionary will be actually Haitian and he comes out in June. I have a good chance at training him!
Monday- Our car broke down and we were stuck at our house after P-day. so lame!!
Tuesday- Me and Wilson played catch with the baseball for a little then tried to get our car jumped and our neighbor is Born-Again Christian and was talking to us about God. He was so animated and raising his voice and just being outrageous. He is a great guy and he loves Christ but he thinks the Book of Mormon is useless and that all we need to do is accept Christ and we are saved…… yeah right. then life would be too easy. haha he wouldn’t let me get a word in edge-wise and it was frustrating but it’s all good! I know I would have owned him if he would have let me testify! haha but after he tried to jump it our car got even more worse. The new Senior Couple think that we are starving and are like some charity fund so she gave us 20$ to order Chinese Food. We taught a lesson with these 3 kids and they loved it! They are super positive and we are hoping to set a date with all three of them soon!
Wednesday- I woke up so sick! I have the worst head cold it stinks sooo bad! I learned how to play chess after District meeting and got so close to winning! I think i’ll just stick to sports.. 🙂 I went on an exchange with Elder Rodriguez and we knocked some doors. We knocked into this 18 year old from Kentucky named Thalia and at first we were flipping out because she was wearing some immodest clothing and she was so welcome to let us in. But we went in and left the Saviors Peace and Blessing in her house and when we finished she was crying and kept thanking us. She told us her life story and how she is on her own and she has a baby and her boyfriend left them, so sad! She said that that morning she had been praying and she sent out a mass-text to her friends and family to pray for her as well and then we showed up! Such a spiritual experience and I know she will accept our message. The sisters are going to teach her because she is in their area. 🙂 we’ll see what happens! We then ate dinner at a Spanish members home and the little girls kept taking pictures of me because “I look like JB.” goodness!!
Thursday- Valentines day and my 11th month mark! Crazy! We sat under the gas station roof and waited the rain out. It rained ALL day… such a cold rainy day! We almost died because Elder Rodriguez has only been driving for a year!! But we got our car back from the shop. Our lesson fell through so I went on a split with Elder James (the greenie) 🙂 and we taught this member girl and she gave us a Haitian referral! Then me and Elder Wilson made hot chocolate 🙂
Friday- I was the sickest on Friday 😦 We taught some little kids and they had some crazy questions! Haitians teaching their kids false doctrine… go figure! haha Taught Chantania and she is way excited for her baptism! And her mom fed us some bomb Haitian food! We went to the Spanish ward’s V-day party and it was fun, we set an appointment with that Haitian referral.
Saturday- I could barley breathe when I woke up! Goodness, I hate being sick! Elder McDougal and Elder Rodriguez the Spanish elders moved in with us… blah! They are looking for a new place, so hopefully they are out in a week.We played some b-ball and that did not help my sickness 😦 We had a branch party and it was a bust.. no one came 😦 and it was freezing! The wind was blowing way hard and it was cold! We left and went to out investigators basketball game, she is in 7th grade and it was good to support her. Her and her mom and sister are so positive! Then a member that lives in Ft. Myers and loves Elder Wilson drove down and took us out to eat. Then we attended a Baptism for this lady that wanted Elder Wilson to baptize her and our whole zone was there! all 18 of us sang for her and it was way powerful. Then we got Dairy Queen and my blizzard was soooo good!… didn’t help my cold though 😦
Sunday- I had to translate all Sunday school, which is fine because my Creole is improving but it is so hard!! We taught this girl named Sophie for the first time and soft committed her to be baptized. she is was sweet! We are excited for her! Took a nap and felt pretty good after, still a little sick. We taught that Haitian referral and her names is Adiane and she is awesome! We are excited for her too. it was 43 degrees in the morning sooo cold! man, i am going to die when I get back to Utah!
Good week filled with the Spirit and this week is started off to a good start too, except Elder Wilson is sick now 😦 we have a lot of people who could have potential dates that we are excited for! I love you all and I am so happy to have the love and support from all of you. May God bless you for your continual prayers in behalf of me and this wonderful work. Have a great week!!

January 21, 2013…last week in Mokee!!

Hello Family and Friends!!

First thing is first.. If you plan on sending me anything for my birthday (Feb. 3rd) 🙂 You would need to send it to my current address this week so I can get it before I leave Immokalee. Or just wait and send it next week when I get you my brand new address and i’ll email it to all of you next Monday. Transfer calls are on Saturday and I know I am leaving so I am pretty excited:)
Monday- Little girl got found in some field, so that was good! We bought Nerf guns and played basically all night, I pretty much own everyone in the house, even though my gun is not that good! Haha it was way fun!
Tuesday- Probably one of the hardest days I’ve ever had. We had interviews with the Mission President and we think he was frustrated with other missionaries because the whole Immokalee House Elders got owned and we all thought he hated us.. But he doesn’t haha Then basically just got my heart crushed… In a nut shell, Pierre didn’t get baptized because his mom freaked out on us and hates us way bad now… Oh my it was the worst experience ever and it was so sad. But we will still work with him and maybe he can get baptized in the near future and he’ll still ask me to baptize him!
Wednesday- Not a lot happened, we had District Meeting and Mutual… Some lady in the branch was all like, oh yeah how about the Broncos.. I kinda exploded on her.. I was like I am really passionate about sports and if you don’t want me getting mad, don’t talk to me about sports. goodness! haha but I apologized and told her I hope the 49ers win the Super Bowl. (I don’t want them to win, I hope it ends in a tie… and then they say… oh wait… the Broncos deserve the win.. and Peyton Manning, Von Miller and Champ Bailey rush on the field and kiss the trophy! 🙂 hahaha )
Thursday- We were riding our bikes to an appointment and some car stops me and is like “wanna talk about god, or what?” So I was like yeah, that would be awesome. I called for Elder Hogge and they parked their car and we sat in Pop-eyes for 2 hours talking to three Catholic students. It was a really awesome experience, we didn’t “Bible Bash” or fight, just shared our beliefs and had compared insights. My testimony grew a ton on the Sacrament and how perfect we do it each week and how happy I am to have the Priesthood in my life. I also learned that God only asks simple, humble men to serve in His Kingdom. He doesn’t ask that we study or gain a degree in college before He entrusts us with His authority, he simply gives it to unlearned 12 year old boys because He trusts them. He gives 19 year old men the chance of a life-time to preach His Gospel. We are truly blessed with the truth in our lives! We committed this lady to baptism and she said yes and her friend started praising and worshiping the sky, it was psycho but hilarious!
Friday- We taught Pierre finally and he still wants to come to church, so that is positive! We got chased but 3 sets of dogs and it was dumb! I can’t stand dogs!! goodness, put a leash on those beasts! I played some football with some little Haitian kids and they were terrible, but it is funny because they think they are so sick. haha We taught Marie and had a really good lesson and we hope that she can gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon. She then fed us so bomb Haitian food! Oh p.s… I really dislike vegetables! Haitians have ruined them for me 😦
Saturday- We found some new investigators and they are so awesome! The girl is 17(Stacy) and her mom and brother are interested too. I learned how to ride my bike with no hands… yeah pretty legit I know! ha! Then we ate some other bomb Haitian food and I love it! You guys would probably hate it, but I have become accustom to it haha!
Sunday- Welp, we got Stacy and her whole family, Pierre and another investigator to church but then it was a disaster! I’ve never felt so embarrassed as a missionary and I’ll leave it at that.. We ate at 2 Spanish Members houses last night and it was really good. Elder Hogge got a Salt Lake City puzzle and we have been working on it and we finished it this morning! It looks so sick. The Nerf wars are way fun and basically I just own everyone! haha Next week I am speaking in the Spanish side and the Creole side, it’ll be way fun!
Had a good week, and I think this next week is my last week in Mokee, wish me luck!! I love you all and pray for you! have a great week everyone!
